Karate Sparring
2-point kick rule will be in effect
1 point for punch
Groin is not a target
NO sweeps allowed.
Light head contact in BLACK BELT Division only.
2 minutes, 5 points system will be used.

Brazilian Jui-Jitsu
Takedown / 2 points
Points are awarded when the competitor offensively (using a throwing
technique) forces his opponent to the mat from the standing position.

Sweep / 2 points
Also called a scissor or reversal, points are awarded when the
competitor sweeps or flips his opponent, using his legs to reverse his
own position from bottom to top (while opponent is in the guard).

Passing the guard / 3 points
When the opponent is on his back, controlling the competitor with his
legs between or around the waist of the competitor (guard position),
the competitor passes the legs to attain the cross side knee on the
stomach or mount position, maintaining complete control on top.

Knee on the Stomach / 2 points
Points are awarded when the competitor has one knee across his opponent’s
stomach, keeping his other knee up with his foot on the floor,
maintaining control of his opponent.

Mount Position / 4 points
Points are awarded when the competitor is on top of his opponent, straddling
him with both knees and feet on the mat, maintaining control of his opponent.

Taking the Back / 4 points
Points are awarded when the competitor has control of his opponent from
behind, with both legs hooked between his opponent’s legs.

Rules and Regulations
No striking of any kind
No knee locks of any kind
Must wear Gi top, pants and belt
3 minute time limit, Possible Over-time

Victory to the person with the most points at the end of the time limit
Fighter tapping out signals submission and a victory for the opponent
Must have 4 competitors for a division to run, otherwise we will combine divisions.

CONTINUOUS CONTACT:
Scoring
This is a 10 point must system.
Every round is 2 minutes in length.
One competitor must receive a score of 10 in a round.
There will be a one-minute rest in between each round.
Each judge evaluates every round separately.

The evaluation of a round should be made according to:
· The number of target hits
The effectiveness of the attack
The combination ability
The delivery of a clean technique
The clean fighting style
The effectiveness of defense
The balance of hand & foot techniques
The overall impression of the athletic performance

A score of 10/9 the round was very close & competitive
A score of 10/8 the round was mostly dominated by one competitor
A score of 10/7 was completely dominated by one competitor
There is no disqualification because of blood.

Self Defense
All Beginner Divisions

or simultaneously with multiple attackers.

One time only at street speed.

All Intermediate Divisions
Three (3) required techniques and One (1) of own choosing.
1 Self-defense sequence against a punch attack
1 Self-defense sequence against a kick attack
1 Self-defense sequence against a grab
1 Self-defense sequence of any selection

Sequences may be performed with each technique individually (one at a time)
or simultaneously with multiple attackers.

One time only at street speed.

All Advanced & Brown Belt Divisions
Three (3) required techniques and Two (2) of own choosing.
1 Self-defense sequence against a punch attack

2 Self-defense sequences of any selection

FMA/Kali Full Contact Stick Fighting

SPORTS GENERAL RULES

The tournament and event organizers, promoters and directors reserve the right to change and or modify the rules as necessary in order to preserve the safety of the participants, tournament officials/staff and spectators. FMA/KALI Full Contact Stick Fighting SPORTS(MDOPEN) organizers reserve the right to reject any applications. The primary objective of the organizers is to promote excellent FMA in the spirit of good competition, brotherhood and preserving the lineage of the Filipino Martial Art.

1. Code of Conduct
Honor, respect, brotherhood are expected from all participants, coaches, instructors, tournament officials/staff and spectators. Inappropriate behavior and language may result immediate disqualification of match, tournament and or expulsion from event premises. You will be held responsible from your actions, representing your instructor, teammates, school and Organization.

2. Video Recording
There will be an Official Video Crew to capture the actions throughout the event. The Public including participants are not allowed to video record any of the tournament matches and events within the event premises unless allowed by the Organizers. Violators will be escorted out of the tournament area and penalty may be imposed on the associated participant or team.

3. Photography
The public including the participants, coaches and instructors are allowed to photograph (still pictures only) any matches and events.

4. No Refunds, Non-transferable and No Alternate Participants
There will be No refunds issued for any payments received. No exceptions. Completed and paid registration will not be transferable.

5. Entry
Limited number of entries as per design/advise of the Organizers in every Tournament/Divisions(s). (See Tournament Format)
Registered Official participants cannot have an alternate or fill-in if they are no show or late reporting to their division(s). Name will be called and announce three times (3X) during division call.

6. Check-in/Weigh-in
Participants MUST report and be physically present during roll call of divisions. Weight MUST not exceed to the desired limit and may be necessary re-weigh upon questionable acts of any groups.

7. FMA/Kali Full Contact Stick Fighting Sports Weapon
Sponsored/Endorsed only by the Organizer shall be used in MDOPEN tournament sanctioned by the KALI WORLD COUNCIL Tournaments. Official FMA/Kali Kayumanggi brand Padded Sticks & Rattan Sticks will be supplied.

8. Scoring
All matches will be judged by 3 court judges and 1 center referee (elimination). Majority decision to get a point and a 10 point deficit means win by superiority. Points are registered upon confirming of at least two or majority of the judges for the strikes that have a clean/clear technique, power and accuracy. There will be two (2) one minute rounds (eliminations) and three (3) one minute rounds (championships). Most accumulated points will determine the winner after the eliminations and championships. Center referee will be the only person in the ring that can give penalty, add points, or stop the fight in any instances.

9. Legal Points (Padded & Live Sticks)
· Strikes to front, side, or top of the headgear
· Strikes to weapon arm or hand
· Strikes to empty hand or arm
· Strikes to the body and shoulders
· Strikes to thighs, knees and shins

10. Penalties and Disqualification
No verbal warning will be given upon disqualification. Tournament Rules must be reviewed
and understood by all competitors before the competition day. There will be a
competitors / tournament staff meeting to review the rules before the start of the competition.
· Penalties may include but not limited to the following :
o Striking illegal target
o Running out of bounds
o Disregarding referees commands and instructions
o Disregarding safety
o Blatant, malicious and dangerous actions

11. Illegal Targets and Prohibited Moves
· Boxing, punching, kicking or kneeing
· Grappling or wrestling
· Holding of stick or any part of the opponents body
· Thrusting to the neck areas
· Groin strikes
· Head butting
· Throwing, takedowns or foot sweeps
· Strikes to the Back (head, body, neck)
· Foul or inappropriate language

Five (5) Penalties/foul Maximum applied to the whole match
· 1st foul – warning
· 2nd foul – plus point to the opponent
· 3rd foul – plus point to the opponent
· 4th foul – plus point to the opponent
· 5th foul – disqualification
Three (3) Dis-arms applied to whole match
· 1st dis-arm - plus point to the opponent
· 2nd dis-arm - plus point to the opponent
· 3rd dis-arm - opponent wins

12. Fight Time
Each round will run for 1 minute. No Time Outs will be called by the competitor or coach. There will be 30 seconds between each round ( time for the coach to give instructions ). Time will continue unless center referee call stops time for the following reason/s.
· Injury of player in the match
· Issuance of Foul/Penalties
· Replacement of Broken Weapon
· End of the round/match

13. Sparring Safety Gears
For the safety of the participants they can use their own safety protectors as approved by the center referee. FMA/Kali Full Contact Stick Fighting Sports safety gears shall be used.
· Gloves (Live Stick & Padded Stick)
· Helmet (Live Stick & Padded Stick)
· Elbow/knee pads (Live Stick)
· Groin guard (Live Stick and Padded Stick)
· Arm/shin guard (Live Stick)
· Mouthpiece (Optional)

14. Competitor Dress Code
All competitors must complete with proper uniforms representing your school and organization. Uniforms must have logo or symbol of your system/school/organization/system. This tournament is professionally produced and presented to entire world.

15. Awards and Certificate
Awards will be presented immediately at the end of the tournament. Special awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
